The Han Net
The Han Net(Chinese:漢網) is a website on the Hanfu movement (Chinese:漢服運動) in China. It publishes a variety of publications on current events and Chinese history, as well as having a large debate forum and a large membership. The website promotes wearing of Hanfu(traditional dress), and a han-centred view of Chinese history. Its members have a negative view of the Qing and Yuan dynasties, believing them to be non-Han barbarian invaders who caused china to retrogade and fall behind the west, and blaming them for ruining Chinese culture by banning the Hanfu. Its users regularly publish many essays on hanfu and other topics. It also hosts the work of several academics, and have over 100,000 members,.〔"The Han Net", 〕 ==Controversy== Some people accuse the Han Net of promoting ethnocentrism. This is denied by the Han Net. The website attracted controversies when one of its members struck a pro-Manchu academic by the name of Yan Chongnian during a book signing.〔http://www.danwei.org/front_page_of_the_day/proqing_dynasty_scholar_was_sl.php〕 The website is also against what it calls "Bian zhi shi"(Chinese:辫子戲) or literally "pigtail dramas" that glorify the Qing dynasty, which the website believe to be a dark age in Chinese history.
